FAQ

Who is organizing the Waverly Community VBS?

We are a group of local churches partnering together to create a shared experience for the kids in our community to encounter Jesus. All local churches are invited to participate in the Waverly Community VBS. For more information visit the Partner Churches page.

What if my church isn’t a partner church?

We welcome anyone to attend or volunteer at the Waverly Community VBS regardless of church affiliation or background!

What age groups are offered?

This year we are inviting kids entering Kindergarten thru 5th grade.  Kids will be assigned to a small Crew of mixed ages led by an adult Crew Leader and an Assistant Crew Leader.

Is there a nursery available?

We are not able to offer nursery/childcare for younger children at this time.

Can parents attend VBS?

In order to maintain an environment of safety and order, parents will not be allowed to follow kids around to various stations unless they are a registered volunteer with a completed background check prior to the start of VBS. However, family and friends are welcome to attend the closing session each night in the Worship Center at 7:30pm.  Please sit in the designated areas.

Do I have to walk my child(ren) into the building every night?

We encourage you to walk your child(ren) into the building the first night for initial registration and check-in.  For the rest of the week, we will offer a curbside drop-off along the south side of Life Church with friendly volunteers that will greet your child(ren) and help them find their Crew Leader.

What curriculum will you be using?

For 2024 we are using the Scuba VBS curriculum from Group Publishing.  Group offers well-known and respected curriculum that is volunteer-friendly and used by a wide variety of churches. For more information, visit the Group web site at www.group.com.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to contributions from partner churches, local businesses, and the generosity of individual donors, there is no cost to attend the Waverly Community VBS! If you would like to make a donation to Pay It Forward to ensure we will be able to continue offering a free community VBS, please visit the Donations page.

Will the kids get a snack?

Yes!  As part of the station rotation kids will be given a light snack and water to drink.  Please indicate on the registration form if there are any allergies we need to be aware of.

What about masks and COVID precautions?

We will have hand sanitizer available and extra hand-washing. Masks are OPTIONAL. No judgement.

How do I register?

To pre-register kids for VBS, please use the online registration button on the Registration page . You will need to fill out one registration for EACH child. Paper registration forms are available at the partner churches.  Walk-in registrations will also be accepted at VBS, but it makes the process much smoother if kids are pre-registered.

Can I volunteer?

We’d love to have you join our team! A list of volunteer opportunities and online registration can be found on the Volunteer page.  Please note, in order to promote a safe and secure environment for everyone, all volunteers age 18 and over will be required to complete a background check prior to the start of VBS. Walk-in volunteers will NOT be accepted at VBS.

Do you need other donations?

As VBS gets closer we may publish a list of needs on the Donations page.
